Region order
Embervale's broad progression runs from the Springlands through Revelwood, the Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes, then into the Albaneve Summits, Veilwater Basin and Cinder's Cradle. Use this as an orientation guide, then follow your Journal and the conditions you meet in your own world.
| Region | A useful planning focus |
|---|---|
| Springlands | Establish a base, rescue survivors and craft your travel tools. |
| Revelwood | Plan targeted trips for clay or amber. |
| Nomad Highlands | Prepare for a tin mining trip rather than wandering without a return plan. |
| Kindlewastes | Use a named mine when gathering iron. |
| Albaneve Summits | Check the cold conditions and your equipment before climbing higher. |
| Veilwater Basin | Plan around water, access routes and the quest you are tracking. |
| Cinder's Cradle | Treat this as a later progression destination; follow the current story and Flame requirements. |
Low Meadows belongs to the Springlands, while Blackmire is a subregion of Revelwood in the linked region database. A separate label on a map does not always mean another main progression tier. The seven-region list is not a promise that every part of one region is equally safe.
Read the landmarks
Travel and Flame
An Ancient Spire is a travel landmark. Unlocking one gives you a useful starting point for later trips. A Flame Shrine provides Sparks; it is not another name for a Spire. Avoid planning a return trip around the wrong icon.
Your base also has two different upgrade decisions. Enlarging the altar's building area and strengthening the Flame serve different purposes. If dangerous Shroud blocks progress, check the strengthening option and its requirements rather than assuming a larger building plot will solve it. Our beginner guide explains the distinction.
Character progression
Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells matter when planning skill points. Ancient Vaults are also worth distinguishing from travel points: survivor quests can take you to them. Track the relevant Journal quest instead of assuming every large icon has the same reward.
Plan a trip
- Choose one objective. A quest, one resource or a travel unlock is enough for a focused outing.
- Choose a starting point. Use an unlocked Spire or your base, then inspect the route beyond it.
- Read the terrain. A marker on the map does not identify every cliff, tunnel entrance or safe descent.
- Prepare for the destination. Rest, eat, check tools and leave room for the materials you intend to carry.
- Set an exit condition. Turn back with a margin on the Shroud timer; in the Summits, account for freezing at higher elevations too.
- Reassess after arrival. If the approach is blocked, find the entrance or advance the relevant quest before committing to a risky descent.
This is a suggested planning routine, not a tested fastest route or a fixed sequence of quests.
When progress stalls
A region looks reachable
Visible terrain and safe access are different things. Check the live Shroud warning, your Flame's strength and your Journal. Do not use an old region-level chart as permission to cross a hazardous boundary.
The marker is above or below you
A two-dimensional pin can sit over a cave, mine or raised structure. Look for an approach road or named entrance and compare the location description with your surroundings. The nearest straight-line route may lead to the wrong height.
